Will Ferrell in a land time forgot, Eddie Murphy and some kids, and Shia LaBeouf and those giant robots are all cruising into theaters in June. Here’s a sneak peek at what’s new:

Land of the Lost Poster

LAND OF THE LOST

Not yet rated, likely PG. In theaters 6/5. Ok for kids 9+.

Will Ferrell brings his wacky humor to this movie based on the 1974 TV series. He plays Dr. Rick Marshall, an adventurer who gets sucked into a space-time vortex alongside his research assistant (Anna Friel) and a redneck survivalist (Danny McBride). In this lost world, the trio make friends with a primate named Chaka (Jorma Taccone), their only ally among the dinosaurs and other fantastic creatures. If you like lots of great special effects and stunts, along with Will Ferrell humor (think “Curious George,” not “Anchorman”), then “Land of the Lost” is for you. The dinosaurs and action might be too scary for kids younger than age nine, though.

Imagine That Movie Poster

IMAGINE THAT

PG for some mild language and brief questionable behavior. In theaters 6/12. Ok for kids 8+.

I love the Eddie Murphy movies like “Daddy Daycare” where he’s paired with kids, and this one is just as fun. Something about his goofiness works well in that genre. In “Imagine That,” he stars as a successful financial exec who spends more time with his Blackberry than his 7-year-old daughter (Yara Shahidi). But when his career starts circling the drain, there just might be a way out thanks to his daughter’s imaginary world. Also stars Thomas Haden Church and Vanessa Williams.

Transformers Movie Poster

TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN

Not rated; likely PG-13. In theaters 6/24. Ok for kids 13+.

This second installment of the “Transformers” franchise brings back Shia LaBeouf as Sam Witwicky. After the young hero learns the truth about the ancient origins of the Transformers, the Decepticon forces return to Earth on a mission to take Sam prisoner. He and Optimus Prime join forces with an alliance of international armies to protect the Earth. As with the first movie, this one is chock-full of intense giant-robot action, so it’s best for kids 13 and older. Revenge is coming!
