Meet & Greet: You can find me at the Barnes & Noble on West Gray on January 19th from 2-4 PM where I will be signing autographs and looking forward to meeting each of you in person.
Crystal Duffy is an author, public speaker, parent advisor in the NICU, and Mother to three little girls including a set of twins. Her essays on parenting have been featured in Woman’s World Magazine, Brain Child Magazine, Scary Mommy, Mamapedia and Twins Magazine. She is a senior writer for Twiniversity, an online support network for Twin parents. Her new book,Twin to Twin launched in December, is available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Indiebound.
After surviving a two month bed-rest extended NICU stay, high-risk twin pregnancy, and 2x near death experience at the age of 29, Crystal was emotionally, physically, and spiritually transformed by her medical trauma. She wanted to share her “Emotional Tale of Empowerment” and inspire other families navigating through a similar journey with a message of hope and encouragement.
She has connected with thousands of families with her work and on her social media handles through her writing. Additionally, she sits on the Children’s Memorial Hermann – Parent Advisory Counsel in the Houston Medical Center where her feedback as a patient care advocate is helping to #ChangeTheConversation with respect to how doctors and patients interact and collaborate. She is growing a strong community to change the conversation in maternal and infant healthcare.
HFM wanted to learn more about her story, here’s what Crystal had to say…
I’m a Mom of three adorable little girls—including a set of four-year-old identical twins—who were the inspiration for my book, Twin to Twin.
Most new Moms bring their babies home from the hospital and focus on finding time to rest and while searching for sanity in the chaos of being a new mom—but instead, I started a writing a book–would you believe? After spending almost two months on bed rest, and one strand of heart-wrenching complications after another… I decided I had to do something to leave hope, encouragement, and a legacy for not only my girls, but for ALL other moms who might experience the same despair that I went through. I knew my story had to be used to inspire other women in my shoes.
I’m excited to bring you along on this journey with me! I’m also thrilled to be partnering with the Motherhood Center, the Social Mama App, The Mommie Series, Twiniversity (the #1 Twin Parent Resource and Support Network), Hand to Hold (a national nonprofit dedicated to providing educational resources and peer-to-peer support for NICU families) and Houston Family Magazine to bring awareness to many moms with the classes I am teaching, including Life After The NICU with the Houston Motherhood Center and Expectant Twins Parents Class with Twiniversity for Houston.
