Meet this horse-riding, mountain-loving mom…who was born and raised in Conroe!  She grew up riding horses, mucking stalls, climbing trees and running through creek beds!  These days, she’s running kids around and running her own photography business.  HFM had the opportunity to talk to her while shooting the “Glamping-themed” cover for our March issue.

How do you juggle family with your photography business?

I love being able to work from home and my kids are involved in my work. I’ve learned that editing is not something I want to do when they are around, so I save that for night time and put on the Cosby Show and pour a tall glass of chocolate milk. I try and save the time that my kids are home to focus on them, of course this does include the occasionally photo shoot at some random location I find while driving. I literally keep fruit snacks as bribery in my car at all times. (I am not above bribery when it comes to a 2 1/2-year-old and a 5-year-old.) Sometimes life gets a little hectic, but I’ve tried to come to terms with the crazy and expect it. For instance, I know that I probably won’t even be able to go to the bathroom without someone knocking on the door or coming in to ask for a snack…someone being my kids not my husband- he’s learned. He’s a great sport, too. Believe me that poor man has to take a lot of pictures, as well.

What kind of photography do you do?

Family, Maternity, children, seniors, engagement, and lifestyle sessions.

What was your favorite photoshoot ever? Or one you are most proud of?

That’s hard. Sometimes you meet a new family, or couple and you laugh the entire time, or you have those clients that you see all the time and become friends. Children and families are probably the most fun. I love doing themed shoots! That’s where I get to get really creative. Oh, and “All About Me” shoots are a blast. I love learning about a kid and their loves at that point of their life and doing a shoot based around those things!

If you could choose a destination to photograph, where would that be?

Hands down, the mountains. I don’t even care where… Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Colorado… I love mountains…especially in the Spring with blankets of wildflowers. Heaven.
