During a basketball game at Lincoln Middle School in Kenosha, a few players on the court overheard some kids in the crowd picking on Desiree Andrews – a cheerleader with Down Syndrome.
“So when I heard they were talking about her like, it kind of like made me mad,” said Miles Rodriguez, Lincoln Middle School basketball player.
The players stopped playing the game and came to her defense by confronting the bullies in the crowd.
“It’s not fair when other people get treated wrong because we’re all the same. We’re all created the same. God made us the same way,” said Scooter Terrien, Lincoln Middle School basketball player.
During the last game of the season, the boys did their own cheer for the special cheerleader by chanting “Who’s house? Dee’s house.”
The athletic director liked the name so much that he said he plans on making a banner and officially calling the gym “Dee’s House.”
